Vero - Shaping your world
1. Why do dimensions on a model disappear when I change the size of the screen by using the min/max buttons?
The dimensions are still there and they can be seen again by rotating the model.
2. My computer has 256 MB of Ram and I want to bring up 2 designs at one time. When the second design is opened I get a message telling me Virtual memory is running low. Why do I get this message when 256 MB of Ram should be enough.
Try changing the virtual memory size of your computer. Click on Start, then settings, and then control panel. Double click system and click the performance tab. Under Virtual Memory click the Change button. In the text box labeled Initial size enter an amount that is double the size of Ram you have. (Ex. 256 Ram = 512). Make your maximum size about 200 MB larger than your Initial. (Ex. 750 is good for 256 Ram). Click Set, then Ok to close the dialog box. This should allow full ge of your Ram and allow 3 or 4 designs to be opened at one time.
3. When I try to open a design in SMIRTDieShop™ I get a message displaying "Invalid Class String". Why does this happen?
We have found this happening in earlier or original versions of Windows 95 that do not have Internet Explorer v4.0 or later. The problem occurs when the .dll file ,XceedZip.dll, couldn't be registered during SMIRTDieShop™ installation. You must first register this file.
Click Start/Run.
Type regsvr32.exe "install_dir\bin\xceedzip.dll". Where install_dir is the path where SMIRTDieShop™ was installed. Be sure to include the quotes.
(Ex. regsvr32.exe "c:\program files\SMIRTware\SMIRTDieShop\bin\xceedzip.dll")
You will then see a message box that either displays "LoadLibrary failed" or displays "LoadLibrary succeeded". If you get the success message, the file has been registered and SMIRTDieShop™ will run properly. If you receive the failure message you must download DCOM 95 from Microsoft's web site at http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom95/download.asp.
Download DCOM 95 to a temporary location and install it.
After restarting your computer, click Start/Run.
Type regsvr32.exe "install_dir\bin\xceedzip.dll". Where install_dir is the path where SMIRTDieShop™ was installed. Be sure to include the quotes.
(Ex. regsvr32.exe " c:\program files\SMIRTware\SMIRTDieShop\bin\xceedzip.dll")
You should receive the message "LoadLibrary succeeded".
4. Why when I am in an orthographic view does the model appear skewed, even though it is square to the axis?
This is because the your current view in SMIRTDieShop™ is perspective. Therefore, the view only looks square at the center of the screen. If you pan the axis from an orthographic view (top, right, front, etc...) to the center of the screen, it should appear square or in line with the camera. This also applies to walls of castings, etc... You can switch to a parallel view is desired.
5. Why is the Print Preview screen black and not showing the model?
The color setting needs to be updated. Set the color setting greater than 256 colors. These settings can be changed by right clicking the desktop and choosing properties. Select the Settings tab and make your changes.
6. Upon Starting SMIRTDieShop™, the screen begins to appear then I receive an error message. What should I do?
Open the display properties by right clicking the desktop, selecting properties and clicking the settings tab. Make sure the Screen Area is set to 1024 by 768 pixels and the Color is set greater than 256.
7. Why do I receive the Error Message "There was a problem sending licensing information over your network."?
The path to SMIRTDieShop.exe needs to be defined. To do this a file called ckconfig.exe must be installed in the directory C:\Winnt.
First do a search on the C:\ drive to make sure the file exists.
If the file exists, copy it to the C:\Winnt folder if it isn't already there.
If it doesn't exist, you have to run (double click) the file Cks.exe which is located in the SMIRTDieShop install path in the bin folder.
(Ex. C:\Program Files\SMIRTWare\SMIRTDieShop\Bin). This will install ckconfig.exe to the Bin folder. Copy the ckconfig.exe file to the C:\Winnt folder.
Define the path to SMIRTDieShop.exe:
Click START/RUN.
Type ckconfig, then select OK.
A message box appears saying changes will not be made until the application is closed. Select OK.
In the NT Server Configure dialog box, Select the Add button.
Navigate to where SMIRTDieShop.exe is located and select it.
(Ex. C:\Program_Files\SMIRTWare\SMIRTDieShop\Bin\)
Select Open and then close the NT Server Configure dialog box.
Once defined, SMIRTDieShop™ can be used.
8. When installing SMIRTDieShop™ I receive an error message about moving files and/or not enough disk space. What should I do?
There is not enough space on your destination drive. Cancel the installation and clean up the drive SMIRTDieShop™ is being installed to. You should have 62 MB free before installation.
9. Can versions of SMIRTDieShop™ prior to 3.10 work with data created by SMIRTCatExp™ version 3.10?
No. Data created by SMIRTCatExp™ version 3.10 will only work with SMIRTDieShop version 3.10 or later. However, SMIRTDieShop™ 3.10 will read data created by earlier versions of SMIRTCatExp™ as well.
10. When I tried to install a license file, I received a message ‘Developer extension not installed’. What should I do?
Follow these steps to install the Developer Extension:
Double click the License Installer.exe.
In the Privilege Server Installer window that appears, select SMIRTware Product. Select OK.
Select cancel to close the Privilege Server Installer window.
Double click on the license file to install.
11. I try to create a note in SMIRTDieShop™, but the create note dialog box wil not appear. What can I do?
This problem occurs when a file, Richtx32.ocx, wasn't automatically registered upon installation of SMIRTDieShop™.
Registering Richtx32.ocx:
Click Start/Run.
Type regsvr32.exe "install_dir\bin\Richtx32.ocx". Where install_dir is the path where SMIRTDieShop™ was installed. Be sure to include the quotes.
(Ex. regsvr32.exe "c:\program files\SMIRTware\SMIRTDieShop\bin\Richtx32.ocx")
You will receive a message saying "DllRegisterServer in install_dir\bin\Richtx32.ocx succeeded".
12. When I choose the option 'Write hole coordinates to a text file' under the manufacturing menu, a .txt file is created. When I view the file, it opens in Notepad and the text isn't displayed properly. What should I do?
You can designate all .txt files to open in Wordpad or MS Word and this will solve the problem.
Open windows explorer and highlight the .txt file.
Hold down the SHIFT key and then right click the selected file.
In the shortcut menu, select Open With.
A list of applications will appear. Select Wordpad or MS Word, then select the 'Always use this program to open this type of file'.
Select OK.
13. When I print my display, the settings (such as color and font) are different. Why don't they stay the same?
In SMIRTDieShop™ version 3.20, there is a choice to print the display using the current settings or the printer.pfr file. If the current settings option is checked, the display will print just as it appears on the screen. If the printer.pfr file is checked, then the settings saved in the printer.pfr file will be reflected on the printout. If the user likes to view the design one way but like to print it a different way, save your desired changes to the printer.pfr file.
To change the settings of the printer.pfr file:
In SMIRTDieShop™, make the desired changes. (Ex. Font, color, background color, etc...)
Under preferences, select preferences settings, then select the SAVE button at the bottom right.
Navigate to where the file printer.pfr is located. Overwrite this file.
