14. Why I can not run SMIRTUgExp after I install it or upgrade Unigraphics versions?

SMIRTUgExp needs an ugopen license from Unigraphics.
SMIRTUgExp can work with Unigraphics version 18, NX, NX2 and NX3.
SMIRTUgExp does not require that Unigraphics is installed on the same computer.
SMIRTUgExp can run as long as it can access the Unigraphics ugopen license and the directory where Unigraphics has been installed on the other computer.

When you Upgrade Unigraphics version, for example, from NX 2.0 to NX 3.0, you may get the
      errors below when running SMIRTUgExp.

System Variables incompatible settings like below, for     example:
  · Path C:\Program Files\EDS\Unigraphics NX 2.0\UGII
  · UGII_BASE_DIR C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 3.0\
  · UGII_ROOT_DIR C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 3.0\UGII\

System Variables settings like below, but try to open a
Unigraphics file created by higher Unigraphics version,
    for example, NX3.0:
  · Path C:\Program Files\EDS\Unigraphics NX 2.0\UGII
  · UGII_BASE_DIR C:\Program Files\EDS\Unigraphics NX 2.0
  · UGII_ROOT_DIR C:\Program Files\EDS\Unigraphics NX 2.0\UGII

System Variables incompatible settings like below, for
    example:
  · Path C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 3.0\UGII\
  · UGII_BASE_DIR C:\Program Files\EDS\Unigraphics NX 2.0
  · UGII_ROOT_DIR C:\Program Files\EDS\Unigraphics NX 2.0\UGII

Please follow the steps below to fix the error:

1: Click Start->Control Panel-> (Performance and Maintenance) ->System. It will pop up window
    System Properties.

2: On the window System Properties, Go to Advanced tag and then click Environment Variables
button. It will pop up window Environment Variables.

3: Go to System variables group, find / select the Variable named Path and then click Edit button.
It will pop up window Edit System Variable.

4: On the window Edit System Variable, look through Variable value and find the entry pointing
to the path of the old Unigraphics version.

For example, you upgrade Unigraphics from NX 2.0 to NX 3.0, Unigraphics does not remove
the old entry pointing to NX 2.0 and the old entry is always before the new entry pointing to
NX 3.0. SMIRTUgExp will go into the old entry before it finds the new entry.

Therefore, there should be an entry C:\Program Files\EDS\Unigraphics NX 2.0\UGII; and an
entry C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 3.0\UGII; in the system variable Path. Please delete the old
entry C:\Program Files\EDS\Unigraphics NX 2.0\UGII; pointing to NX 2.0 in the system
variable Path. Then click OK buttons to close the window.

5: Please also check if the other related system variable are pointing to the new path, for
example, UGII_BASE_DIR (for example, after upgraded to NX3.0 , it should point to
    C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 3.0;), UGII_ROOT_DIR (for example, after upgraded to NX3.0 , it
should point to C:\Program Files\UGS\NX 3.0\UGII;). Generally these variables will be
automatically updated after Unigraphics is updated.
